Yesterday was Remembrance Day, where we take a minute of silence to remember those who died or suffered for Australia’s cause in all wars and armed conflicts. I always include animals in my minute of silence as they have always played a big part in wars (and still do today).
I was very ill yesterday but I really wanted to do poppy nails for this day. By 11:30pm I had finally finished my mani and posted on my Instagram. I had to do little bits at a time as I had blurred vision and bad shakes all day. I wanted to wear this mani for a few days but a couple of minutes after the photos, I messed up the mani in a big body jerk. I wanted to do something nicer than these nails but it’s the best I could do in the circumstances and they’re better than my ANZAC Day nails.
To do this mani, I started with two coats of OPI You’re So Vain-illa. This shade is darker than My Vampire Is Buff but still looks good on my pale skin. The red poppies are made with Powder Perfect With My High Heels On. To do them, I combined a couple of drops of With My High Heels On and one drop of acetone. This made the polish more sheer so that I could use it like water colour paint. Then I used my cheap nail art brush to draw petals and then dotted the centre with black once the red was dry. I practiced this many times on a nail wheel before I did this mani. I’m hoping to be able to paint nice poppies by next ANZAC Day.
