Month: May 2014

This weeks AIPAS theme is Revenge of the Nerds. I wasn’t really sure what this meant but I tried. Watching documentaries about the universe is one of my nerdy past times so I thought I would run with that and choose a Celestial Cosmetics polish. I decided to use Birth of a Star, the limited edition April polish (but there’s a couple left at one of the distributors – I would email Celestial Cosmetics if you’re looking for it). The colour reminds me of the night sky when you live in a big city. It is a pretty holographic polish with colour shift but I couldn’t capture that as Melbourne weather has been horrible. Christine at Serenity Nails was able to capture the colour shift, so go check it out. She does great manis and has lots of info on her blog 🙂

I decided to put some stars on my middle finger by using Nail Vinyls. They’re very easy to use. Her Instagram (@teismom) has lots of examples of how to use them. I decided to use a Dead Set Babes polish, Eric in Chains, from the May What’s In-die Box. My last post has more details about the May box with macro shots. I think I will be using this polish a lot!

I know this mani would have looked amazing in the sun but alas that didn’t happen. Both polishes have a beautiful rainbow appearance in light. Like most holographic polishes, Birth of a Star showed tip wear very quickly, even with the tips being coated. I still think it’s a great polish. Don’t forget to use a ridge filling base coat when using holographic polishes, they look better that way.
What would you do for the theme Revenge of the Nerds?

Next year I will try to find a way to make it open internationally so that more people can be reached.  This wouldn’t have […]

This weeks AIPAS theme is thermal polish. The only thermal polish I own from an Aussie brand is Femme Fatale Cosmetics ‘Gossamer Dust’. It is orange when cold and yellow when warm. I needed four coats to get it opaque but my smile line is still viewable sometimes. Melbourne’s current mild weather means that it […]

Today I want to show you some ways that you can use the Lyme Awareness ribbon decals that are in the giveaway. The ones in the giveaway were donated by the lovely Suzy at NailStatement. I decided to use Ulta3 nail polish because it’s only $2 a bottle so everyone can afford it.  Bottle shots […]

Today’s mani has been made to highlight a co-infection that is commonly found in people with Lyme Disease. Bartonella (can cause Cat Scratch Fever) is often thought to be a three week infection which is cured by a single course of antibiotics. In immuno-suppressed people, this is not the case. Lyme Disease suppresses the immune […]
